Legendary 'JET' Magazine is moving digital after June 9th

Every since I was a little kid growing up I read Jet Magazine. It was in every house I stepped foot in. From fashion and beauty tips, entertainment news, dating advice, political coverage, health tips, diet guides, and of course Jet Beauty of the week, JET has become a staple in the Black Community. Comedian Redd Foxx coined as the "The Negro Bible". The magazine received it's National recognitions by it's coverage of the murder of Emmett Till. As of last month, the 63 year old magazine announced that they will be ending print publication and going all digital. It's last print issue will be sent out Monday June 9th, 2014.Johnson Publishing stated that with a circulation of more than 700,000, will transition to a digital-only format. Jet's new app, available for smartphones and tablets, is set to launch June 30. The third-largest circulation magazine in the African-American market, Jet reduced publication frequency from weekly to roughly every three weeks in recent years. Last summer, Jet went through a major redesign, with more service-oriented stories, bigger photos, more graphics and a new website. But the changes were not enough to keep the print product cost effective, its publisher said. Lastly, Ebony, the sister publication to JET will team up with the magazine to launch an e-commerce store where specific merchandise will be available for purchase.
